A Letter from Friends of Grant Creek
Friends of Grant Creek (FOGC) wishes to express its gratitude to the Missoula City Council and the Consolidated Planning Board for their September 14th and August 4th votes against rezoning at 2920 Expo Parkway. We thank all Council and Board Members for their thoughtful consideration of the proposal. In both hearings members carefully stated the difficulties of their decision in dealing with the complexities of our Missoula Growth Policy, confronting safety concerns stemming from traffic congestion at the I-90 intersection, the related need for emergency ingress/egress in our one-way-in, one-way-out valley, and the identified high risk of wildfire in the neighborhood -- the number one concern in the Community Wildfire Protection Plan.
We wish to thank the hundreds of Grant Creek residents that took time to express their opinions on the proposal and to the City Council for the time provided to FOGC and valley citizens to study and comment. We look forward to working with Council and city staff to update the Grant Creek Area Plan.
